Abstract We report a case of severe acute corneal hydrops in a 32-year-old woman with keratoconus associated with Down syndrome. The anterior segment of her right eye showed an extremely diffuse edematous ectasia of acute corneal hydrops. She was observed rubbing her right eye because of itchiness and discomfort in the eye. Complete resolution of the corneal edema and a central corneal scar was seen at the 6th week of follow-up.

Acute corneal hydrops is a rare complication caused by a rupture in Descemet’s membrane as a result of progressive corneal thinning, normally due to advanced forms of corneal ectatic disorders. We report a case of unilateral pellucid marginal degeneration (PMD) which presented as acute corneal hydrops in a 56-year-old woman with no history of ocular or systemic disease. متن کاملAcute corneal hydrops during pregnancy with spontaneous resolution after corneal cross-linking for keratoconus: a case report
BACKGROUND Keratoconus may progress to acute corneal hydrops even after cross-linking. In some cases, keratoconus progresses during pregnancy. In this report, we present a case of a patient with increased anterior stromal resistance after cross-linking that would favor nonprogression of keratoconus during pregnancy. CASE PRESENTATION We report that cross-linking is likely to have had a protec...
متن کاملAnterior segment optical coherence tomography findings of acute hydrops in a patient with keratoconus.
The authors describe the anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) findings of a 25-year-old patient with acute hydrops associated with keratoconus. The patient presented with decreased visual acuity, pain, and redness in the left eye. The symptoms, clinical presentation, and topographical findings of the right eye confirmed this condition to be acute corneal hydrops. The patient w...

PURPOSE To report an unusual presentation of pellucid marginal degeneration (PMD). CASE REPORT A 57-year-old man with history of corneal ectasia experienced acute hydrops and spontaneous corneal perforation in his right eye. Examination revealed PMD in both eyes. After initial treatment with cyanoacrylate adhesive and a bandage contact lens, therapeutic penetrating keratoplasty was undertaken...
